W14. What did I learn in this course? / posted by Sojeong Yeon

I learned about how to use Wikipedia and how to write an Wikipedia article in last course. I knew the Wikipedia which is an encyclopedia before, but I began to use Wikipedia and edit in its site in earnest from last year. In this course, I could knew and learned deeply Wikipedia as the place of collective intelligence. I learned the history of Wikipedia, the value of its encyclopedia, the process of collective intelligence, the free culture of it etc. Above of all things, I got to know about the concept of copyright and the Creative Commons licences(CCL). Last semester, I first knew Wiki commons and the way to upload and use pictures in it. But I tried using other sites which follow the CCL. In last class, we talked about how creative commons is used in Korean and internationally and what some business models are using it. I searched many sites related to creative commons than I thought.
Among them, 'Shared yard' is a Korean site in which everyone can use freely images and medias. People create a new common work and share and remake them for new creation. It is easy to use its site and participate in the process. In this site, you can search the works by category - documentation, Icon, font design, video, background music, industrial design, wallpapers sources. You can also filter the sources by data properties, and by conditions - full, free use of copyrighted works, conditional use of copyrighted works. There are many images and works so I will use them. Also I got to know other examples that NAVER and Baemin(www.woowahan.com) make a new front and distribute them freely. I think I will use those site a lot.

  1. I could know lots of other collective intelligence sites either. But from reading your article, I could know lots of other collective intelligence sites that exist in Korea. I determined to use those sites and participate in collective intelligence in Korea sites too.
