W10 blog topic: What would make writing on Wikipedia easier for me? - jongchan kim

1. SUMMARY
 
Anyone can edit, use and use the content freely on Wikipedia. Here, even if you are not an expert, you can express your opinion and share it freely. Also, existing copyright is not applicable. This is why there is a variety of collective intelligence activities taking place in Wikipedia.
 
2. INTERESTING POINT
 
I have been working in Wikipedia for 10 weeks and have received a variety of feelings. I was able to do creative activities that I could not do in the real world. I am not an expert. But I was able to feel the pleasure of sharing my knowledge for many people. The reason for this activity is that the absence of copyright is the biggest reason. Also, it is not the place where the authoritarian behavior of experts is applied. Through this freedom, many people are creating collective intelligence in Wikipedia. I can not help but be surprised by the results of Wikipedia made through collective intelligence. The progressive growth of Wikipedia will produce even greater results than now. I feel proud that I participated in these projects.
 
3. DISCUSSION POINT
 
In Wikipedia, there is a chance that many people are free to work and quote instead of being copyrighted. Wikipedia has done much in terms of collective intelligence as it is not copyrighted. But copyright is the most important property right in the information society. It can be said that the information society is maintained because of copyright. The great outcome of Wikipedia reveals contradictions in modern society. How do we deal with copyright in the future?

These days lots of controversial problems are rising. And because of those problems, people fight on the Internet. But I think most of problems happen because of a lack of civic attitudes. As I highlighted the discussion section of Wikipedia last post, talking together with having civic attitudes is very important point. On the Internet lots of people meet. And this means all of them has different thinking and experiences different cultures. So it is certain that everyone's opinion is different. W5. Can we trust Wikipedia? Yun-Jin Kim

Then I want to ask. Can we trust News? I think Wikipedia is based on sources. Every time we edit on Wikipedia we need the sources. If we don’t put sources, the information we wrote would be deleted.   So I think asking ‘How can we trust Wikipedia’ is kind of similar to ‘How can we trust News’. I know there could be subjective opinion on Wikipedia. If the topic is unpopular, the public opinion doesn’t focus, there’s could be no feedback and that makes Wiki subjective. for this reason, we have to think before we choose the topic in Wiki. If the topic isn’t famous enough and have no sources, we should think this information isn’t sure enough. but if the topic has clear sources we can have a trust on that information. I think it is not important to ask, ‘is the Wikipedia trustful’. It is important to ask ‘is this information on Wikipedia has a exact source?’.
