W9. Discuss Reagle’s chapters 3-4 . Yong-il. Seon

1. Summary
As we have always said, the openness of Wikipedia has always been a problem. There are advantages and disadvantages to all problems, not just Wikipedia. In the case of Wikipedia, the main point is that all users have editorial privileges. To put it easily, all users have editorial rights, so if anyone has the wrong information, it can be modified immediately. On the other hand, the likelihood of malicious modification when we want to spread false information can not be ignored. However, the system is ready for this problem. That is the quote and source. Quotation and source can be displayed so that the user can directly judge the reliability of the information.

2. Interesting Point
This is the way in which the value of information is determined not by the provider but by the audience. We were only unilaterally receiving information from people who gave information. The information was just accepting itself. But in Wikipedia all users are information providers. That's why some people say they can not trust the information at all. This is the key. Because all the information is unreliable, the source and the quotation are important. If you are in doubt about the facts about the information, check the source. We do not accept information unconditionally. The person who accepts the information must act more carefully. Obviously, this is where the operation of Wikipedia is picked.

3. Discussion Point
It is necessary to discuss the objectivity of information. As I mentioned earlier, the information in Wikipedia is not entirely objective. The fact that the information provided by the encyclopedia site is not objective can be problematic. However, it is entirely at odds to allow all users to participate and to provide only objective information. Is it important to provide objective information even if the amount of information is small? If not, is it important to have vast amounts of information even if objectivity is low?
