W3. Why do you think people use Wikipedia? Why do others write for it?-Tae Joon YOO
Wikipedia is a most powerful and massive online contents web which is edited and written by the public. There are several reasons why people use Wikipedia. For me, i use it because it's interface is easy to use and also it is convenient to find the information i need. Unlike other websites or dictionary, Because of continuous modification, Wikipedia reflects current trends and new information well.
I found the Book <The future of contents> which analyzes the Wikipedia's success. This book insists that there are three reasons why Wikipedia has come to massive success. First, They focused on making encyclopedia again and recognized its precise meaning. And they had the principle which is that the information on Wikipedia should be neutral and to cover important current topics and to reveal the every source. Second is unlike other websites, Wikipedia did not put much effort on edits. "Anyone could go through, edit ,and leave' is their principle. The last principle is there should be scale to distinguish the meaningful information from unneccessary information. Wikipedia used some mechanisms to delete and modify informations. Wikipedia has adopted some complex mechanisms and systems to clarify their standards and instead of giving public right to judge, no one has the right to reject and no one has power than any other editors. Wikipedia's standars were formed by the public and i think this is the most suitable factor of Wikipedia's success. So i think The Key factor is Equality in participation and connection between people.

I also think Wikipedia's success was made by the public. Their voluntary participation created a rich encyclopedia. And it has shown the many benefits of today's Web 2.0. However, the public should not accept information uncritically when modifying or referring to it. As it is an encyclopedia worldwide, the impact of information is very strong. Therefore, it is necessary to check and reveal the source before it can be truly a place of collective intelligence.
