Extra Posting 2. How do we participate in Web 2.0? How do we create the modern-day culture?

'Web 2.0' refers to Web technologies that generate information and interact with each other based on the spirit of openness, participation, and sharing. In class, we announced our experience of participating in Web 2.0. I try to write about my experience.

With advances in technology, there has been equally remarkable progress in the game sector. Fine character customization, graphics, and now the game is a virtual reality, but it is similar to the real world. In these games, there are cases where Web 2.0 features are revealed. I will introduce some examples first and then I will tell you my experience.

First, I would like to show you an example of using World of Warcraft map using Google Maps. The map provided in the game has been trying to provide convenience with many patches in the meantime, but there is the biggest disadvantage that the whole map can not be seen at a glance. Especially for beginners who are starting the game for the first time, they can quit the game without overcoming the inconvenience. However, this map, created using Google Maps, was created by several users who joined the images of each region in ultra-high quality. This map provides zooming capabilities and once had the ability to display all the locations of the NPCs.

The second example is a card game information site that I myself participated in. I play an online card game (Hearthstone), and each expansion pack comes out every quarter. Before the expansion pack is released, new cards can be previewed. I and many gamers can make their own assessment of the card and save it. Within the site, this is referred to as a "verdict." The more verdicts are, the more likely they are to think about what cards are good and bad. After that, we can actually improve our understanding of the cards by comparing what we expected when the expansion pack was released.

Web 2.0 is used in a variety of fields, and games are no exception. Web 2.0 in the game can utilize the virtual reality that only games can do, and can make the novel world and the disappearing buildings participate in various people's participation. I am looking forward to Web 2.0 in the future.

Comments

  1. Very interesting. Although I never played the games introduced in this post, I guess such User-Oriented participation will make the games more absorbing and make strong attachment between users and the games.
