W15. What is the future of Wikipedia? Will it exist in 20 years? 50? 100?

In this course we learn a lot about Wikipedia and with all the knowledge I get I can say that Wikipedia is a really great initiative which needs a lot of work and where many persons are involved to make it works. And more and more people are willing to make it a better online free encyclopedia. Moreover Wikipedia is the typical representation of the free culture which is a growing concept in nowadays society. So as far as I am concern I think Wikipedia will still existing for the few next years but in some conditions.

Even if Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia and even if people who are involved into revise the different articles to make sure that they are relevant with different kind of sources, I think Wikipedia should let other people who are less involved in it and who don’t know all this operation behind the articles to be relevant and reliable on that there is this kind of process. People usually don’t know that most of the articles on Wikipedia are reviewed to make sure that the references are good and that what it’s said in the articles is relevant. The ignorance of most of the population on this process can triggered the existence of Wikipedia for the future. For instance Wikipedia is not accepted as a reliable sources for students presentations and if Wikipedia don’t let people know the process of reliability of its articles people will still believe that Wikipedia is full of fake and outdated information.
