W15 blog topic: What is the future of Wikipedia? Will it exist in 20 years? 50? 100? - kimjongchan

Like my blog post two weeks ago, there is a danger on Wikipedia. Wikipedia can not deny that it is an aggregation of collective intelligence. It should be remembered as the greatest achievement that mankind has ever achieved. However, the dangers presented by Wikipedia show the risk of undermining this achievement. I think Wikipedia should not disappear for the sake of collective intelligence in mankind. Yet Wikipedia is not complete. This will not be simply a matter of years. It can take more than 100 years or more. Although we are living in an information society, we will know that knowledge in various fields is still scattered. It is very difficult to figure this out because it is scattered with various fields of expertise, common sense and so on. Wikipedia believes it will remove these difficulties. If Wikipedia's risk persists, I think it will be dangerous, but it must be eliminated and completed.

We took a class of collective intelligence during the semester. We also learned about Wikipedia using the importance of collective intelligence. And we could predict the future of society through collective intelligence. One semester was short, but I could learn many things. It was hard for me to take a class because I was not good at English, but I could learn a lot from Professor Piotr's passionate lecture. What did you get in your class of collective intelligence?

  1. I think Wikipedia is the best place to show collective intelligence. Currently, there is no alternative site. However, there are some problems with Wikipedia. For example, there is a problem about information distortion, a decrease in users due to technological advancement (smart phone), and reliability. In fact, this problem can inevitably arise due to the nature of Wikipedia. Unless you solve the problem, the future of Wikipedia will be quite depressing. I felt a lot while studying this Wikipedia. First, it was interesting to gather detailed knowledge by collecting the dispersed knowledge in one space. I knew this was the power of the group, and I knew that it was the group that transcends the individual's ability.
Second, considerable cooperation is important to create knowledge and information. Without co-operation and respectful attitudes, information may become biased. In addition, many conflicts and conflicts can occur during the process of editing information
