W14. What did I learn in this course? - ChaeHyeon Lee

I learned about Wikipedia and collective intelligence this semester. I learned clearly what I knew about Wikipedia, such as how to write articles, copyright issues and so on. I learnde Copyrights through the Creative Commons License (CCL). The Creative Commons License (CCL) was what I already knew. However, I only recognized it as an icon to mark the copyright, and it was the first time to upload photos or work. If it weren't just for other purposes, I wouldn't have taken the copyright seriously. However, in order to upload to Wikipedia, I had to check the copyright. Then a phrase that restricts the second processing came into my eye. After I learned how to mark the copyright, the sign seemed important to me, as if you can see only as much as you know.

I did the Wikipedia assignment last semester. The assignment then was to make my article, and this task was to make articles and edit articles on Wikipedia every week. When I first started editing, I did not like someone deleting, questioning, or evaluating what I edited. It even seemed like a useless tackle. But as I began editing more and more edited, my attitude toward Wikipedia changed. I began to understand collective intelligence in Wikipedia. As I was editing, I was positively looking at the collective intelligence in Wikipedia through the satisfaction that I received by getting help from others and knowing what I lacked in my articles. I still have a lot of shortcomings as a Wikipedia editor. But as I discuss articles on Wikipedia, get feedback from other users, and question the articles, I think I learned more than collective intelligence.
