W12 blog topic: Discuss Reagle’s chapter 6 - kim jongchan

1. Summary
 
Understanding the collaborative community in Wikipedia is of the utmost importance. Wikipedia had to reconcile different personalities, philosophical differences, and external threats with social reality. But Wikipedia has been created by authoritarian leaders in spite of cooperative culture, egalitarian spirit, and openness. We can see in this chapter the role of the informal benevolent power. I was able to find that Wikipedia is a collaborative community and run by powerful people.
 
2. Interesting Point
 
What surprised me was that there was a dictator in Wikipedia. It was astonishing that there was a dictator in Wikipedia, a symbol of a collaborative and creative community. We have seen a lot in reality how influential people have influence on people. The dictator of Wikipedia seemed to be different from the dictator we know. However, since the dictator's risk has been seen historically, we must think about the danger.
 
3. Discussing Point
 
Those who have power anywhere have great power. Most people agree with those who have this power. To confront a person with power is a big threat to him. The dictator of Wikipedia was different from the dictator we know. It existed for the control of Wikipedia. But many people object to this approach. Historically, the dictator's rule has created problems. In Wikipedia, now dictators may be playing a positive role, but we may be missing the issue. I think, in Wikipedia, a collaborative and creative community, dictatorship is something to be lost. So what are the alternatives to a positive dictator who is now working in Wikipedia?

I rarely had access to Wikipedia before this class. Because there is a service called 'Knowledge in' operated by Naver in Korea. I've been used to the 'Knowledge in' for a long time, so I've always used it if there's something I don't know. However, I got to know Wikipedia in this class. Wikipedia has a much larger volume of data than I thought, and it is being used by people all over the world. Also, anyone could edit information. I want to search and edit my favorite soccer information.
