W10. What would make writing on Wikipedia easier for me? - Seron Kim

Everyone in the world uses and edits Wikipedia. But the rate of editing Wikipedia is very low compared to the users. How can we solve this problem? What makes it easier for us to edit Wikipedia?

I think there are three major ways. Before user edit Wikipedia, user need to be thoroughly familiar with the editing features. Knowing the editing features will make editing Wikipedia easier, and user will not feel any difficulty. Also, if Wikipedia made editing a little easier, it would help increase the editing rate. The second is to edit from the topic on which user is interested. When editors are confident and edited on interesting topics, they will be edited more aggressively. The third is finding a lot of accurate sources. Wikipedia needs accurate information, and when inaccurate information is updated, it is removed by other editors or Wikipedia self-censorship. So if user find the exact source, such as a news article or a thesis, user will be able to edit Wikipedia easily.

There are many other ways to make Wikipedia easier to edit. We need to make it possible for many people to participate in Wikipedia through a more efficient way of discussing each other.

  1. I fully agree with the first opinion. Unlike Korean blogs and other sites, we have to learn Wikipedia only. So now it's better, but it was a lot harder at first editing. There may still be a difficult part, but I feel like I have not found it yet.
