W4. Discuss Reagle's Chapters 1-2 - Jongchan kim
1. Summary
In this chapter, I read about the history of Wikipedia and its introduction. It was an important read to see how Wikipedia was created, what crises it faced, and how it evolved. Wikipedia's purpose is to gather knowledge from all over the world to create an encyclopedia that everyone can participate in. The purpose of Wikipedia's original nupedia was a dictionary created by experts. Wikipedia was created early on in its creation under the criticism of the number nupedia. There are still a number of problems at the moment. But beyond these issues, Wikipedia has come to understand each other across the region.
2. Interesting point
Wikipedia is a media that, like traditional webpages, is not only available to a handful of people, but is easily accessible to many people. The two men who created these media were Charles and Sanger, who had sufficient education and knowledge about the Web media and created Wikipedia using them. They were able to successfully produce Wikipedia because they knew better than anyone else about its lack of convenience and inclusion in the Internet. What was interesting to me was that great results came from the desire of highly educated intellectuals to share their abilities for the general public. I think their achievements are great in a world of individualism.
3. discussion point
Wikipedia's goal is to create a collection of all the knowledge in the world, and to create a medium that many people can participate in. The platform that the intellectuals created for many people has contributed greatly to the world and has become a great product. I think Wikipedia's birth is a modern version of Nobles oblige. What do you think the birth of Wikipedia means? I'd like to hear your opinion.
I read your article well. I think Wikipedia's birth is an innovation in the information age. I think it's the only place where you can see the amount of information and new information in a moment that no encyclopedia can match.

I think Wikipedia is the online space that best shows the horizontal features of democracy. Even if it is not professional, anyone can write enough. In addition, various people around the world gather to form a knowledge. Only one person is not an administrator, but various people become managers. Many people make Wikipedia a forum. Interactive encyclopedias(Wikipedia), rather than unilateral encyclopedias, are the greatest strengths of today.
