W2. My first edits. Describe why you made them. - Solène Huille

Before beginning my edits, my first question was how to choose articles to change. Indeed, there are many articles on Wikipedia, but it is difficult to add knowledge for each of them. I don’t have knowledge in many fields. So, I chose the easiest things for me, what I know well and what I wanted to develop on Wikipedia: my hobbies, the places I know well, my universities or schools.

During this first week, I learned how to add links, referring to other Wikipedia pages or to external pages. I learned also how to correct mistakes.
I added some information with new sentences and new links, in French or in English, about La Turballe and Autry-le-Châtel, villages in France where my grands parents have a secondary residence. I like these places and I wanted to share it with other Wikipedia users.

I think it is a good beginning to modify some articles we know. But, how to improve others articles ?
I think that you don’t need always to be an expert to develop other articles. So, what are the “tips” to know to improve other articles ?
Maybe, the kind of modifications will not be the same if we know or not the different fields. I mean, maybe we can add some links or pictures when we don’t know very well the subjects. On the contrary, when we have knowledge on something, we can add sentences and paragraphs. What do you think about it ?
I have another question because, sometimes, I wanted to modify one page but it was semi-protected. Why can't we edit these pages for an indeterminate time ?
