W14 What did I learn in this course? - Ji Young, An

Everything I learned by taking this course was all new to me. From this course, I first really learned about Wikipedia, because before I took this course I only heard that name. I learned what Wikipedia is and how does it works and so on. As I mentioned maybe the first blog posting, I am not good or smart user of today’s electronic devices including smartphones and laptops. So every assignment in this course was very difficult and unfamiliar to me. But I think I became a little bit familiar with those system on the Internet.
The most important thing I learned from this course is the Wikipedia. How could Wikipedia be the best encyclopedia and the relationship between Wikipedia and the collective intelligence. Also I learned how to edit on Wikipedia and how could I discuss in Wikipedia. And I could learn the efforts of people to make a consensus. They don’t just this is right or wrong. They talk and discuss about the problem lots of time. This made me believe the existence of collective intelligence. I could think the advantage of collective intelligence and also I could think of the fault of collective intelligence. It was very busy and difficult course (and still it is) but as I think the process, I could realize I have learned lots of things in this course.

  1. I also learned about the power of collective intelligence of Wikipedia. I began to edit a Wikipeida article from last year but I could learn more about it in this course. For me, the copyright and Creative Commons Licences was interesting. I got to know about sites related to that. I will use them well.
