W12. Discuss Reagle’s chapter 6 - Ji Young, An

This chapter of Reagle’s article is talking about the leaders and leadership. I didn’t even think of leader of Wikipedia when I use Wikipedia. But by reading this article, I realize that making people to do the thing just like what I did could be one of the leadership as well. To talk about this article, leaders mostly persuade people by being a model and explaining. But this doesn’t mean that those leaders do not have charismatic authority that is accumulated by their strength. And leaders should counsel with their peers and not easily disagree to the opinion and determination which other people made. And it is not surprising that spontaneous and competent leader is leading a society in openness contents society like Wikipedia. Also this article mention that the most influential leaders are Larry Sanger and Jimmy Wales who are the co-founder of Wikipedia. Then talking about the patience, politeness, modesty, intention to apologize, and humor as the virtue of leadership which Wales has. By reading this article, all I could thought was the greatness of Wikipedia’s leaders especially Wales. To think just little deep I could easily expect that the person who made and manage Wikipedia is very respectful leader.
