W9. Discuss Reagle’s chapters 3-4 - Seron Kim

Chapter 3 describes Collaborative Culture. Collaborative culture is literally a culture where many people face their heads together and collaborate. It is a culture of collective intellect. In the Collaborative Culture, it is important to see it from the standpoint of neutrality. Chapter 4 describes Open Content Communities. This means freely sharing and using information through the open source community.

A good example of Collaborative Culture and Open Content Communities in Chapter 3-4 is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is easily accessible to anyone in the world, and anyone can edit it anywhere, anytime. If anything that is shifted to one side of Wikipedia's information, it becomes neutral and perfect through the hands of many people. And the information that is created can be freely shared and used by everyone.

However, because Wikipedia is based on the Internet, problems due to anonymity and inaccuracies may arise. A small number of Internet users are hiding behind this anonymity and are not happy with their affection or behave inappropriately. It can also deliberately edit inaccurate information and share this information to spread false information. We need to acknowledge that these problems can happen and think about solutions.

  2. I also thought similar to you.
This is the case when a Wikipedia user intentionally edits the wrong fact.
I think users who accept information about this part should be cautious. For example, it is a way of confirming sources and quotations. What do you think?

  3. The spread of false information is a very serious problem. To do this, Wikipedia provides rules for its users, but its shortcomings arise from people who repeat bad behavior without following rules. In order to solve this problem : Wikipedia users are more actively to act. The truth of the information should be determined and corrected actively. It must be achieved by the power of collective intelligence.
