W10: What would make writing on wikipedia easier for me ?
Wikipedia has always been part of my student life, but since more than two month now i started editing on wikipedia. My first though was « i am scared », scared of editing, scared that someone will delete my edit or will scold because the edit has been done the wrong way. Then when i finally started my first edits i got over this fear and i admitted that it was normal my edits are not perfect and some wikiusers come to my help.
Then you find yourself in front of the wikipedia interface once you selected an article... you can choise either visual editing or source editing. Source editing can scare a lot of people who are nor familiar with coding, whereas visual editing is more user friendly. However some problems/ mysteries still remains even when you are on the visual editing such as editing side bars or charts. These are some manipualtion that are not obvious and ask oneself to do some research beforehand.
So these are the main problems i encountered. A more user friendly editor would be appreciated, for example when you click on a chart it is possible to edit it like an excel. If wikipedia took some example of what is most commonly used, like excel and word, editing would be facilitated.
In a era where the interest in collective intelligence is increasing, where more people feel concerned and participate isn’t it i wikipedia’s interest to allow the maximum of people to edit ? Maybe it is possible that wikipedia’s editing system has driven out some users.

I agree that visual editing tools are more user-friendly. I also use it mainly when editing. Source editing can be a little difficult for beginners to use, but it is very convenient to use it with reference to other good articles. For example, copying the source or code of a well-texted article and changing the content while keeping the code is more convenient than you thought. I recommend you to use this method.
