1. summary
"Wikipedia , the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit". This sentence shows the openess. culture of openess is the main characteristic of modern society. As an open society and community , Wikipedia has five attributes. open content, transparency, integrity, nondiscrimination, noninterference. Not only these five features led to wikipedia's success but also the systematic actions and devices. And also wikipedia has the Collaborative culture. These two attributes to Wikipedia's success. Wikipedia can give anyone to participate in collective intelligence. Because wikipedia is online, asynchronous, possibly anonymous, incremental, and cumulative. For the reason that people like to participate in wikipedia and they try to debate on some topics, Wikipedia keeps porpsering. This is the one example of collaborative culture. This type of participation and collaborativeness leads to future society.
2.interesting point
The fact that anyone can participate in wikipedia is the most interesting thing in wiki project. Even the one who doest have account can participate and edit articles. and i want to focus one anonymity. I think in some degree, openess is related with anonymity. Anonymous makes people more active in collaborative culture. And also, openess and anonymity makes article more objective and neutral. Even if it is not written in a neutral way, it still has its advantages. if the editor's identity is open to public, there will be limits to article editor's opinion. Andi think that for the same reason, openess and anonymity can lead to vigorous debate.
3.Discussion
Collaborating is the root of the humanity's development. And throgh the collaborativenes, we can see through the future society. But in aspects of collective intelligence and collaborativeness, we have to focus on "discourse", the majority that defines which topic is important, what is right or wrong, and acceptable. Every society has the majority's opinion and it can make discourse. this can lead to narrow opinions set and made by ruling class.
