W4. Discuss Reagle's Chapters 1-2 Yun-Jin Kim

1. Summary
To be honest, I can’t even understand a single paragraph. Just few of sentences or words. But I tried my best and got the main idea. The Wikipedia founders hoped Wikipedia to spread information to everyone without no expense. And make everyone to share information. And lots of people use Wikipedia but there’s just few people who write on Wikipedia.

2. Interesting thing
I’ve always wondered why Wiki’ pedia. What does this mean? The article says, It means Wiki wiki” means “super fast” in the Hawaiian language, and Ward Cunningham chose the name for his collaborative WikiWikiWeb software in 1995 to indicate the ease with which one could edit pages.
But not everyone contributes to Wikipedia cause Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia cofounder, noted in December 2005 that “half the edits by logged in users belong to just 2.5% of logged in users.

3. Discussion question
I thought ‘if only 2.5% users edit on Wikipedia, is that could be mean everyone shares information?’ Not everyone communicating, then was is it mean by that? I thought Wikipedia is an online space where everyone shares their information, but if it’s not, I think we should think about Wikipedia’s true meaning.
