Extra posting : Do you think Wikipedia is right to reject censorship?
Wikipedia is a free
encyclopedia, which allow access to knowledge to everyone and for evey subject.
Wikipedia is neutral, It does not stand for any political party or any
religion. On Wikipedia you can’t write your opinion or defend a cause.
Wikipedia is only to share information easily and freely about every notable
subjects.
Moreover Wikipedia
does not have any power on what the government decide to show to their population
or not. Or any power on what kids search in the encyclopedia. So Wikipedia can
be censored in some countries or by some parents if they do not want it to show
certain information, but it is not the role of Wikipedia to refuse to give and
share knowledge.
So, as far as I am
concerned Wikipedia is right to reject the censorship. Accept the censorship is
being involved in some cases and take sides which is contrary to the aim of
Wikipedia.
I agree with you. I think censorship is contrary to the goal and the spirit of Wikipedia. The freedom of expression is essential. If some contents were censored, Wikipedia would not be as popular as today.
