W2. My first edits, describe why you made them.

Wikipedia is a widely used website in my country (France) and it is often put to use in elementary and highschool assignement. However this website is more renowned amongst the younger generation that the older who rather secure their sources of informations with books. More often than not wikipedia is said to be a website in which the content is not verified and the sources unsure. This is what i mostly heard from my teacher. As i became interested in the surroundings of internet and its different ways to contribute to « the greater  good », i found myself enjoying editing.

At first i tried to edit simple things such as adding new words, correcting grammar mistakes that i could spot ... Then i wanted to try something more daring i started adding references and links in the articles. What was really interesting is that few hours later after my modifications had been made, someone corrected some of my edits and suppressed one reference. I could even send them a message asking why those modifications had been deleted. I even learned about the existence of the internet archive.

I am however still concerned about articles which contains some dead links in it, and which website doesn’t exist even in the onternet archive. Wouldn’t the article be no longer legitimate ? Shouldn’t some content be removed as it can no longer be proven ?
