W2. My first edits -Sun bo Sim

1. Summary
I did my first editing last semester. The article what I made is “Honjok”. This concept is lifestyle term for people who willingly do activities alone. The reason why I wanted to make an article about this concept was because I thought it was the trend in my country last year. And I thought it could be used all over the world. There are no articles which describe this concept in Korea Wikipedia and English Wikipedia, so I decided to edit in both places. After forming the overall framework for this article, I tried to find the press release that matched it. The professor said that quoting the press release was the way to increase the reliability, so I tried to find the maximum amount.

2. interesting point
Interesting point are cause of this concept which is being popular. There were various causes, but I thought there were two important ones to consider. The first is Ennui in human relations. It means people who live in Korea don’t feel the need for new relationship so They try to be alone. The associated survey also showed that a growing number of people are not feeling the need for relationships. I think that This survey shows a stark atmosphere in society, and I felt sorry for it. Simply put, people are giving up their relationships to avoid stress. The second is effect of media. Many TV programs for honjok started to be created. It shows celebrities who live alone. It makes perception of the honjok in a positive way.

3. Discussion point.
There is no image to explain this concept in this article. I hope to find an image to symbolize this concept. And it is very lacking to describe future prosepects. The article is full of positive prospects. I think it is necessary to discuss what negative prospects are.

Comments

  1. I think the content of Wikipedia you wrote is very good. However, since the content is a language derived from Korea, it seems that Wikipedia is not fully understood yet. I think that your problem will be solved when Wikipedia becomes more popular and used in Korea.

    1. Thank you for your comment. As you said, this is difficult to understand when foreigners first look. It would be nice to add a word that is easy to understand.

  2. I think you‘re content is very good. Recently, there has been a growing number of ’Honjok’ in South Korea, and more and more services are being provided for them. I think it is definitely a culture that can be developed not only in Korea but also in other countries. I hope you can work hard and let many people know about it.
