W2. My first edits. Describe why you made them - Kim Byung Chan

1. Summary
 
I attended a lecture called globalization and sociology last semester. We discussed what globalization is primarily about in this lecture, and we used Wikipedia to make it easier to understand. At this time, I almost used Wikipedia for the first time. Wikipedia was not explained kindly. So i took a lot of time to work like adding, modifying, and creating hyperlinks. After trial and error, I was able to use a little Wikipedia.
I have a lot of worries about what is not in Wikipedia. First, We decided to look at the subject around us. We remembered ‘Dosmas’ in front of the school we ate recently, and we set it as a theme. Then we wondered what only Korea could do. We looked for dispatches and added 'hanbit unit' to Wikipedia.
 
2. Interesting Point
 
As soon as you enter Wikipedia 's homepage, you can see the one information. The page lists the language supported by Wikipedia and the amount of data written in that language. Korea is famous for its very fast internet. During the last vacation, I traveled with my friends to Europe. At that time, We felt that the internet was very slow. However, it is interesting that Korea's wikipedia data is about 410000, which is significantly smaller than other countries including Europe. There are various portal sites like 'Google' in Korea, such as Naver, Daum, Nate. And most Koreans designate this as homepage. These portal sites provide various services that users need. It also provides 'information'. So, even if koreans do not use Wikipedia, they can get enough information. So I think Koreans do not use Wikipedia wisely, the data is small.
 
3. Discussing Point
 
There is a lot of information in Wikipedia. In this semester, we need to add and modify information from Wikipedia. But we need to look at what information needs to be done. I think it takes a lot of time and effort. Therefore, I think that it will be a great help for the future work if we discuss about how information is wrong and how to find what information should be added easily and quickly.

W5. Can we trust Wikipedia? Yun-Jin Kim

Then I want to ask. Can we trust News? I think Wikipedia is based on sources. Every time we edit on Wikipedia we need the sources. If we don’t put sources, the information we wrote would be deleted.   So I think asking ‘How can we trust Wikipedia’ is kind of similar to ‘How can we trust News’. I know there could be subjective opinion on Wikipedia. If the topic is unpopular, the public opinion doesn’t focus, there’s could be no feedback and that makes Wiki subjective. for this reason, we have to think before we choose the topic in Wiki. If the topic isn’t famous enough and have no sources, we should think this information isn’t sure enough. but if the topic has clear sources we can have a trust on that information. I think it is not important to ask, ‘is the Wikipedia trustful’. It is important to ask ‘is this information on Wikipedia has a exact source?’.

These days lots of controversial problems are rising. And because of those problems, people fight on the Internet. But I think most of problems happen because of a lack of civic attitudes. As I highlighted the discussion section of Wikipedia last post, talking together with having civic attitudes is very important point. On the Internet lots of people meet. And this means all of them has different thinking and experiences different cultures. So it is certain that everyone's opinion is different. But I think from this difference, the collective intelligence comes. So I think this difference is very important. But sadly, because of this difference some people fight, just arguing their opinion is one hundred percent right. This attitude is nothing good to our collective intelligence.
