W2. My first edits. Describe why you made them.

Blog Topic: My first edits. Describe why you made them.

1. Summary
It is very interesting to select the first Wikipedia subject. Of course I had edited Streamer last semester. But this semester, with a new mind, I chose the topic more carefully for the first time as I was editing the Wikipedia. Among the various themes, I was wondering if the gun I was handling in the army was posted on Wikipedia. As a result, there was a difference in contents between English Wikipedia and Korean Wikipedia. Therefore, I added the contents of the English Wikipedia to the Korean Wikipedia.

2. Interesting Point
The M60 machine gun is an american tantamount multi-purpose machine gun using 7.62 × 51 mm NATO guns. It is a firearm that has been operating in Korea until the Korean War. However, the original model had various inconveniences. Therefore, it is being replaced by M249 and M240 in USA today. I found a lack of explanation for the various variants of the M60 machine gun in Korean Wikipedia and added it. M60 machine guns appeared not only in many overseas films such as avatars, al-point, rambo, and matrix, but also in Korean movies.
As I read Wikipedia, I did not know that the M60 appeared in so many movies. I knew the M60 who appeared in Terminator, especially when I went to see the army again, but I did not know that the M60 came out from Rambo before I went to the army. As I read an article about the M60, I was amazed that the facts I did not know before I experienced could be seen after I experienced it.

3. Discussion Point
As I mentioned earlier, there are cases where the facts that I passed by unintentionally become known after a while. Did you experience the same thing as editing my Wikipedia?

  2. There is a lot of information in Wikipedia, but there is information that people don't know. In particular, it is very possible that people do not know information such as military weapons. Wouldn't it be better to add information about the war in which the weapon was used in order to better communicate this information? Or wouldn't it be better to add weapons to various war information pages?
On top of that, have you ever found out about the lack of information on Wikipedia?

    1. It is a good idea. However, I did not receive systematic education on war, only in the arms. That's why it would be hard to deal with a specific war in Wikipedia. But if I study more about war, it will be a very good contribution. :)
