W1. What do I know about Wikipedia and what do I want to learn about it? - Kim Jonghyup

I usually get information in Wikipedia. Because there are so many topics I want to know. I’m happy to use Wikipedia for free and thank for user’s trouble. I didn’t know that not only professionals but also ordinary people like us could participate in editing. But now I know I can participate in editing.
I think Wikipedia is the most representative example of collective intelligence. The greatest advantage of collective intelligence is that knowledge is created through collaboration and the reliability of information is increased through steady revision process. This advantage is also a benefit of Wikipedia. With the advent of Wikipedia, access to knowledge has become easier and accessible to everyone
But I don’t understand that why people participate in this collective intelligence without any cost. I want to know the intentions and reasons of those who participate in Wikipedia through this class.
