W1. What do I know about Wikipedia and what do I want to learn about it? - Hyerim Won

Wikipedia is "Collaborative Community". The collaborative community is literally the platform of the results that people collaborate online.

Wikipedia's influence is huge as many people have participated.
In fact, Koreans use ‘Naver’(search engine used in korea) most effectively, but when We need more precise and specific materials, We can search Wikipedia directly in English. Even in my case, I would search Wikipedia if I had the necessary data or articles. Wikipedia's " hyperlink " feature makes information more reliable and easy to access information for users. So it can be called the most popular encyclopedia today.
In addition, it can be noted that Wikipedia is complementary. Although similar to collaboration, repeated modifications can update new information to obtain close to the truth. I thought it was just a platform to get a summary of justice and events. But, Wikipedia is the result of countless people's knowledge gathering and heated debates. That is, they are connected from Wikipedia.

I find an interesting comment while I learn about Wikipedia. I think this phrase is something that reveals Wikipedia's identity.
" It is not a dictionary, it is not a place to publish new ideas, and it should not be a place to advertise and promote others. It is not a blog or social networking site, it is not a textbook to teach people, nor is it a tool for predicting the future, " (J.J. Anderson, 2011.)

I think Wikipedia should be active not only online but also offline. Isn't it a necessary step to improve the quality of our content?

Also, I have a question. When edited with the wrong knowledge, others receive the wrong information. Who will solve this problem? Does updated editing always check based on facts?

  1. It is a very constructive idea. I also think that the wrong information in the wikipedia as you might think will cause problems. So we need to think about how to solve these problems.
