1. Summary and my opinion
Wikipedia has become one of the
most popular websites in the world today, although it was not likely to be
available 10 years ago. At its core, Wikipedia is the " collaborative
community " that is free and willing to ask the world for continued
understanding. Wikipedia is a community, but one is actually made by doing it,
or by collaborating. Such cooperation can occur in a culture or set of norms.
It is guided by the principles of accepting and fighting. The project is one
generation away from the goal : a world where all humans can freely share the
sum of all their knowledge. But it is the first time in 10 generations that
such a move seems possible to anyone. And Lawrence emphasizes the importance of
Ethnography over other studies. Honestly, I didn't
know that Wikipedia has become one of the most popular websites in the world.
Because I have not heard much of Wikipedia and I have not used it. Wikipedia in
Korea is small and not many Articles, as you learned in class. So I will learn
a lot and realize it while doing several projects in class.
2.
Intersting Point
I
was interesting Good Faith Collaboration was also free and online. I've never
seen a free book or a form that is both online and Web-based. South Korea also
has a Web-based book system called the E-Book, but it is mostly made out of
what also exists as a paper book. This sequence of examples shows how much they
love Wikipedia. I also felt that the days will come when free and online books
are the main characters.
3.
Discussion Point
In the text, "Most people wouldn’t think long
technical discussions in committees to be very exciting — they usually aren’t —
but I was inspired by instances in which the varied skills and personalities of
my peers complemented each other. The differences that sometimes irritated me
or frustrated progress also, sometimes, yielded an elegant solution that
exceeded the sum of our individual efforts. I witnessed something similar at
Wikipedia. Most people wouldn’t think the production of an encyclopedia could
be very exciting either, but I found Wikipedia to be a compelling site for the
study of collaboration and an endearing but unruly character in a longer
historical tale." I
think some people agree with this, others disagree. For example, I have edited
my opinions and ideas as a user in using, editing, and creating Wikipedia. In
this situation, it first occurred to me that if it was erased or rejected by
someone else's hands, it could be offensive and hard to accept. What
would it be like to see you go through this process while doing Edit?
